About Michael E. Hockenbury
b. 1977, Michael E. Hockenbury brings his appetite for wonder and adventure in Northeastern Pennsylvania to creative works in oil. He was immersed in the classical methods of realism - both ancient Greek and Rome and European Renaissance at the now internationally renowned Waichulis atelier.
He spent years mastering fundamentals and principles of form, drawing and design. Through this dedication, experience, and his singular personality and perspective, Michael E. Hockenbury has not only found his voice, but has contributed to the contemporary American Renaissance of Realism with his noticable, unique use of color, composition, and vision. Often he finds broken, neglected pieces of the past recasts them for new roles and creating a new life of their own. Toys, emphera, fruit/vegetables, sarcasm, nature's little quarks, oddities and history takes his paintings beyond the surface in order to radiate the inner beauty of his compositions. Michael's work has been shown in numerous art shows including - Allied Artist of America, Salmagundi Club and the Butler Institute of American Art. He has been published in American Art Collector, The Artist's Magazine, and Creative Quartely. He is currently represented at Elliot Fouts Gallery, Sacramento, CA.
